I use CGIwrap here, too. Also without changes. But I use it via a
RewriteRule which forces all /[uge]/name/*/foo.scgi files to be processed via
CGIwrap. Here is my config:
RewriteRule ^/[uge]/([^/]+)/\.www/(.+)\.scgi(.*)
/internal/cgi/apache/cgiwrap/~$1/$2.scgi$3 [NS]
Works since the oldest days...
