   Can you check it out with the latest version `3.0.0-M3`?
   The parameter `classpathDependencyExcludes` works only with test classpath and not with provider classpath. But I think this is a clear solution for you in `3.0.0-M3`:
   ```
   <plugin>
       <artifactId>maven-surefire-plugin</artifactId>
       <version>3.0.0-M3</version>
       <dependencies>
           <dependency>
               <groupId>org.apache.maven.surefire</groupId>
               <artifactId>surefire-junit-platform</artifactId>
               <version>3.0.0-M3</version>
               <exclusions>
                   <exclusion>
                       <groupId>org.junit.platform</groupId>
                       <artifactId>junit-platform-launcher</artifactId>
                   </exclusion>
               </exclusions>
           </dependency>
       </dependencies>
   </plugin>
   ```
