[jira] Commented: (MAPREDUCE-2252) XSS injection in JobHistoryParser

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAPREDUCE-2252?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12979863#action_12979863 ]

Todd Lipcon commented on MAPREDUCE-2252:
----------------------------------------

More generally we should probably register a jetty ErrorHandler which escapes the output of exception traces. org.mortbay.jetty.handler.ErrorHandler is the default and has this lack of escaping that causes the bug.

> A malicious user can copy a job history file to another location to which both the user and the JT have access to, and then modify the "taskid" field of a "TaskStarted" event in the JSON to include a script tag. This will be printed unescaped in the 500 error that is produced.
