This is in the advanced guide, please follow [this link|http://directory.apache.org/apacheds/advanced-ug/5.4-replication.html] to set up master-slave replication.

Please note that there is a typo in the doc (it was just corrected but site was not updated yet). 
The <code>ads-searchbasedn</code> should be set to <code>dc=apache,dc=org</code>
