SSH access problems

Is anyone else having problems with SSH access to xml.apache.org?  I'm
trying

  cvs update -P -d

and getting

  cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages
if any)

When trying to sign on with ssh directly, I just get a command line back
without getting logged in.

Is it just me?
