> Presently, the first work item is not fetched from the Collection Reader (CR) until the first Job Process (JP) successfully initializes and requests same.  For the case where the CR is "bad" (e.g. during development) it would be good to fail fast, rather than waiting, potentially, for quite a long time for the first JP to initialize before learning that getNext() is foobar.
