[VOTE] Airflow Backport Providers 2021.2.5rc1

Hey all,

This time CORRECT YEAR :),

I have cut Airflow Backport Providers 2021.2.5rc1. This email is calling a
vote on the release,
which will last for 72 hours - which means that it will end on Mon, 8 Feb
2021, 7pm CET.

Consider this my (binding) +1.

Airflow Backport Providers 2021.2.5rc1 are available at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/airflow/backport-providers/2021.2.5rc1/

*apache-airflow-backport-providers-2021.2.5rc1-source.tar.gz* is a source
release that comes
 with INSTALL instructions.

*apache-airflow-backport-providers-<PROVIDER>-2021.2.5rc1-bin.tar.gz* are
the binary
 Python "sdist" release.

The test procedure for PMCs who would like to test the RC candidates is
described in

https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/dev/README_RELEASE_BACKPORT_PROVIDER_PACKAGES.md#verify-the-release-by-pmc-members

and for contributors:

https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/dev/README_RELEASE_BACKPORT_PROVIDER_PACKAGES.md#verify-by-contributors

Public keys are available at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/airflow/KEYS

Please vote accordingly:

[ ] +1 approve
[ ] +0 no opinion
[ ] -1 disapprove with the reason

Only votes from PMC members are binding, but members of the community are
encouraged to test the release and vote with "(non-binding)".

Please note that the version number excludes the 'rcX' string, so it's now
simply 2020.2.5. This will allow us to rename the artifact without modifying
the artifact checksums when we actually release.

Each of the packages contains a detailed changelog. Here is the list of
links to
the released packages and changelogs:

Re: [VOTE] Airflow Backport Providers 2021.2.5rc1

Posted by Jarek Potiuk <ja...@potiuk.com>.
You can see it here (list of commits in there):
https://pypi.org/project/apache-airflow-backport-providers-cncf-kubernetes/2021.2.5rc1/

Does not seem it is included. But I think we are going to switch to a
regular release schedule for providers/backports every 3 weeks. I was going
to start a discussion about it right after releasing this wave.

We can do two things:
1) I'd say we have a good reason (I.e. serious defficiency), we could
easily release and start voting on cncf release right after the current
wave is released. But I would certainly want to avoid holding off on the
whole wave because of this one. And we should do both - backport and
regular providers release for that if we decide to do so.
2) If we think that the current cncf.kubernetes is broken (compared to the
previous release) we can simply exclude cncf.kubernetes, but since we have
not done it for regular providers, I see no reason why we should do it
differently for backports.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this? Was it a regression, or simply
bugfix to a problem that was already there? How critical is it? What
problem does it introduce? Can it wait 3 weeks or so?

J.

@jarek does the cncf provider have this recent fix?
https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/14083
Would love to add that if possible

Hey all,
This time CORRECT YEAR :),
I have cut Airflow Backport Providers 2021.2.5rc1. This email is calling a
vote on the release,
which will last for 72 hours - which means that it will end on Mon, 8 Feb
2021, 7pm CET.

Consider this my (binding) +1.

Airflow Backport Providers 2021.2.5rc1 are available at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/airflow/backport-providers/2021.2.5rc1/
[https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/airflow/backport-providers/2021.2.5rc1/]

*apache-airflow-backport-providers-2021.2.5rc1-source.tar.gz* is a source
release that comes
with INSTALL instructions.

*apache-airflow-backport-providers-<PROVIDER>-2021.2.5rc1-bin.tar.gz* are
the binary
Python "sdist" release.

The test procedure for PMCs who would like to test the RC candidates is
described in

https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/dev/README_RELEASE_BACKPORT_PROVIDER_PACKAGES.md#verify-the-release-by-pmc-members
[https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/dev/README_RELEASE_BACKPORT_PROVIDER_PACKAGES.md#verify-the-release-by-pmc-members]

and for contributors:

Public keys are available at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/airflow/KEYS
[https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/airflow/KEYS]

Please vote accordingly:

[ ] +1 approve
[ ] +0 no opinion
[ ] -1 disapprove with the reason

Only votes from PMC members are binding, but members of the community are
encouraged to test the release and vote with "(non-binding)".

Please note that the version number excludes the 'rcX' string, so it's now
simply 2020.2.5. This will allow us to rename the artifact without
modifying
the artifact checksums when we actually release.

Each of the packages contains a detailed changelog. Here is the list of
