How enable/disable logging

Hi,

I use log4j-1.1.3 to log for example database queries, however one of the 
queries stores passwords into the database and for that instruction I would 
like to disable logging, thus my question is how to figure out in which 
priority the logging is running, disable logging and restoring the previous 
priority level?
