As scheduled, I will proceed with the change in CVS to move X1 on a
branch and X2 on the trunc.
Please, DO NOT COMMIT any changes until further notice.

Well, it doesn't look like Arnaud's followup messages made it
out, yet, but he has completed the merge of the Xerces2 branch
into the main development trunk. THANK YOU, ARNAUD! I know what
a pain that can be and really appreciate you stepping forward
to do this work.
I updated the web pages on the Apache XML Project's website
to reflect the changes. The actual files that were touched are
the following:
