GSoC 2020 Idea - Support for OpenTelemetry

Dear mentors,

I'm Kartikeya. I am a 3rd year undergrad student pursuing Bachelors in
Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Christ University,
India.
I was browsing through various GSoC 2020 projects and the landed up at
Apache's idea page.

As I happened to previously watch the keynote of OpenTelementry, CNCF, the
following project listed under the Apache's idea list caught my attention
-CAMEL-14531: Support for OpenTelemetry.
What I understand is that OpenTelemetry helps in tracing, capturing
metrics, logs, resource metadata etc. from your backend and client
applications (Camel in this case) and then sends this data to backends
Prometheus, Jaeger etc. for processing.

Well, I do understand that's it's a little too late to now look at GSoC
ideas, I still felt that if given the opportunity and mentorship, I would
definitely put in all my effort to successfully implement this feature.

Thus I would like to know if I can still do something work so as to my GSoC
application can be decent and be considered.
Would you please guide me on what I should be doing in these 3 days (till
proposal submission deadline) and also after that (till the selected
projects are announced) in order to make my proposal considerable?
I am really looking forward to accomplish this feature during the GSoC
period and be a part of the Apache community even after that.

My Github and linkedIn profiles are as follows-

Kindly guide me and give me an opportunity to prove my potential.

Thanks and Regards,
Kartikeya K

Until there is still time for submitting the proposal it's completely ok to submit and you'll be for sure considered along with the others applicants.

So go ahead :-)

Maybe send the draft of your proposal on the dev mailing list for feedback.

Thanks.
