   @garrensmith let me cut the 2.2.x branch first - should be within 24-48h - then go for it
   
   To be clear, we need to sort out dependency installation & CI environments before we make this part of the actual runs still. I don't want to hold up the WIP any more but I do hope that someone other than me can look at what is necessary to get this to run in a minimal build environment.
