Implement Chainsaw as Eclipse stand-alone application.
Summary: Implement Chainsaw as Eclipse stand-alone application.
Product: Log4j
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: Other
Component: chainsaw
AssignedTo: log4j-dev@logging.apache.org
ReportedBy: cp1965@ROGERS.com
Chainsaw should allow users to add different views of the process such as:
1 - Live charts of various kinds (using several chart libraries for Java).
3 - 2D Graphics (using SVG)
3 - 3D Graphics (using VRML)
2 - Voice (using VoiceML)
3 – User-customized views (using any Java)
I want to point out that almost all these views are already available under
Eclipse (www.Eclipse.org - open-source). An easy way your team could support
all these views is to make Chainsaw an Eclipse stand-alone application. Eclipse
already supports a very flexible and modern XML based extension facility. By
adopting Eclipse, Chainsaw would become a very powerful process viewer indeed.
