[users@httpd] Apache 2.0.47 spawning keeps spawning clihd processes

Hi there,

I have recently upgraded to Apache 2.0.47 with php 4.3.3RC1. My problem
is that apache keeps spawning child processes failing to kill unused
childs. Eventually all memory is being used rendering the server
unresponsive...

The error_log says:
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9455 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9474 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9516 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9493 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9517 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9499 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9518 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9483 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:19:10 2003] [warn] child process 9460 still did not exit,
sending a SIGTERM
[Mon Jul 14 10:24:27 2003] [warn] pid file
/usr/local/apache2/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of
previous Apache run?
[Mon Jul 14 10:24:28 2003] [notice] Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) PHP/4.3.3RC1
configured -- resuming normal operations

As you can see, I had to use The Big Button to get things running
again...

Any ideas as to what is causing the probs?

Best Regards

Peter Normann
