FW: JAF 1.1

FYI ...

From: A mailing list for discussion of the JavaMail(tm) API
---------------------
After eight years we've decided it was time to make a few small
enhancements to the JavaBeans Activation Framework. These proposed
changes are available for review as part of the JCP Maintenance
Review process. The primary enhancements are:

     * Provide a list of all MIME types known to a MailcapCommandMap.
     * Provide access to the native commands known to a MailcapCommandMap.
     * Support for fallback entries in mailcap file.

You can find the details at:

        http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=925

An early access version of the JAF 1.1 implementation will be available
very soon from the main JAF page:

        http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/jaf/index.jsp

Please review the proposed changes, try out the early access implementation,
and send your feedback to activation-comments@sun.com. Note that this
version of JAF requires J2SE 1.4 or newer.

Thanks!

Hi Noel,

What mailing list? In the javamail website I only found javamail-interest
and javamail-announce but I've not found javamail 1.4 discussion there.

Stefano,

There is discussion of JavaMail 1.3.3 and 1.4 on the mailing list now. If
you want to contribute requests to either, I suggest participating on it
now. :-)

JavaMail 1.3.3 Early Access release The JavaMail 1.3.3 Early Access release
contains over 20 bug fixes and enhancements, including support for more
protocol-specific features and significant performance enhancements for
base64 encoding and decoding.

I hope they implemented per recipient notify/orcpt that is missing from the
current (1.3.2) implementation.
