Kurento WebRTC
Dear OpenMeetings Developers Community,
This is just to reinforce about Kurento shared in user@OM, and also share a few technical perspectives to developers (dev@OM).
+
Kurento is modular, thereby enabling analytical, third-party algorithms and programs, besides media capabilities and group communications. It allows a Java program to make JSON-RPC calls to the kurento-jsonrpc-server.
-
It uses Kurento protocol, which is based on <http://doc-kurento.readthedocs.io/en/stable/glossary.html#term-websocket> WebSocket and uses <http://doc-kurento.readthedocs.io/en/stable/glossary.html#term-json-rpc> JSON-RPC V2.0 messages for making requests and sending responses. The downside is Kurento protocol is a new protocol that may have certain features closed as it develops...similar to Red5 WebRTC.
Also, as it uses TURN/STUN servers to exchange media, it will require a number of UDP ports, besides the TCP port, open. Security issues have to be taken care of proxy servers.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Hemant K. Sabat

for OM purposes we need "room based" WebRTC server
P2P will not work, this is why kurento might be good candidate
We will see :)
I'll keep everyone posted :))
