Ajax/ActiveMQ performance
Are there any performance issues using Ajax with ActiveMQ? How many users can
it handled in a multicast mode? Is this just a hardware issue?
Also, what's the best server for using ActiveMQ ... Jboss?
Thank you

Not particularly; when using Ajax and ActiveMQ together the only real
bottleneck to scalability is how many sockets a Java process can
handle; which is down to the OS to determine; on some platforms its in
the order of 10,000 per process; on other OS's its more like 1000 so
you might wanna tweak your configuration/kernel

You mean publish/subscribe right? (Ajax doesn't use multicast)

Yes - its just a question of how many boxes you need for your quality
of service, user population, throughput rates and message sizes &
distribution profile etc

the JVM is pretty good ;) there's no real need for an app server if
you're using ActiveMQ

Fuse is an app server for SOA style applications. It's not a J2EE app
server like JBoss. There is MySQL version of fuse that is tailored
for use with MySQL. But this may not be the best forum to discuss
this in. To get more info shoot an email to info@logicblaze.com.

Is Fuse an application server like jboss? What do I need to use Fuse for
MySQl? What about minimum hardware like RAM, processor? Do I need root
access? Anyone know of any hosting companies that provide Fuse as an option?
Thank you.

ActiveMQ can run embedded in JBoss just fine but when run inside the
Fuse distribution, see:
http://www.logicblaze.com/products.jsp
Then you get a nice managment console into ActiveMQ and ServiceMix (and ESB).
ActiveMQ is also the default JMS provider used in Geronimo in case you
NEED a J2EE server.

hiram
