July report project list

Hi,

I found some inconsistencies in the July report.
Apache Stratos graduated in May, so it should not report anymore, right?

Flink is a new podling, and in my understanding, new podlings have to
report monthly in the first three months. The project is missing in the
list.
I think this commit
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/incubator/public/trunk/content/podlings.xml?r1=1601289&r2=1601288&pathrev=1601289
removed the monthy="true" flag from Flink.
Optiq was missing in the June report even though it was a new podling. (It
is in the report this time).

Is this intentional or is a workflow or script broken somewhere?

If you want, I can remove Stratos and add Flink to the report.

New podlings must report monthly for the first three months of incubation.

Historically, I don't believe anyone has ever been officially assigned to
clear the "monthly" flag in podlings.xml. It's been whoever gets to it first
-- typically a Mentor, or often David Crossley or myself (and presumably
others who I haven't noticed).

With the advent of report_runbook.py, clearing all expired monthly flags
became part of the Report Manager's workflow.

Yes, exactly. We give podlings who fail to report the "monthly" tag for one
month, over and over as many times as necessary, until they finally report.

So, the current (or past?) shape of podlings.xml is on me. I was
going off of what I was already looking at in the file.

- When does a podling get three months listed in the monthly tag?
If there's a description of how this value is meant to behave, that
would help. Are new podlings the ones signed up with month w/ the
next 3 months specified? Who's responsible for clearing this?

For podlings that don't report, do they simply get monthly=true and
next month as the value?

No volunteers.  Sigh.

I've done this myself after all. It's important to maintain the monthly tags
correctly in podlings.xml because otherwise we get chaos in the report
reminders as happened this month.

For various reasons, I am probably going to have to cut back on my Incubator

Thank you very much for your diligence, Robert. Four podlings did not receive
automatic reminders today:

*   Brooklyn
*   Fleece
*   Flink
*   Slider

I have sent out reminders manually to all four.

There were several problems with that commit. Can I get a volunteer to
perform the following edits on podlings.xml? I could do it myself, but the
point of writing all this out is to build community.

Kalumet, S4 and NPanday should have the `monthly` tag set, but it should be
for `July` only:

    <reporting group="N" monthly="true">July</reporting>

(Note that `N` is a placeholder and should be either 1, 2, or 3.)

Flink should have the monthly tag set, with a duration of `May, June, July`:

    <reporting group="N" monthly="true">May, June, July</reporting>

Brooklyn, Slider and Parquet should have the monthly tag set, with a duration
of `June, July, August`.

    <reporting group="N" monthly="true">June, July, August</reporting>

Optiq should have the monthly tag set, with a duration of `July, August,
September`:

    <reporting group="N" monthly="true">July, August, September</reporting>

Fleece's entry is already correct, including the `monthly` tag and the
duration. It's not clear to me why no reminder went out. :(

**No other podling should have a `monthly` tag**.

> Optiq was missing in the June report even though it was a new podling. (It
> is in the report this time).
>
> Is this intentional or is a workflow or script broken somewhere?

The glitch appears to have been due to unclear instructions in
report_runbook.py.

    # For any podlings that did not report, add a "monthly" attribute
    # in podlings.xml.  See http://s.apache.org/At0 for a sample commit.
    # mechanical -- Assign podlings which do not report to "monthly".
    [... edit podlings.xml with your editor of choice ...]
    svn ci -m "Assign podlings which did not report to 'monthly'."

...

    # Edit podlings.xml: remove the "monthly" attribute for podlings
    # where it has expired. Commit any changes.
    [... edit podlings.xml with your editor of choice ...]
    svn ci -m "Remove expired 'monthly' attributes."
