[jira] Commented: (INFRA-1221) New Mirror Germany

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1221?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12870306#action_12870306 ]

Carsten Otto commented on INFRA-1221:
-------------------------------------

Hello again,

the server project known as "ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de" evolved to a more proper solution. As a consequence, we also changed the IP address to 137.226.34.42, which should be visible already (the old server will continue to work until traffic dies off).

In this process we also decided to offer rsync access for all mirrored projects. For apache:
rsync://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/apache/
Please update your internal information about this mirror accordingly.

If you are interested in the details, please have a look at http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/ (or http://137.226.34.42 if you do not see the new server, yet).
Short summary: 2 GBit/sec internet (soon 10 GBit/sec), 60 GByte RAM, proper disk system, proper housing

With this new server we expect notably less crashes and downtime.

Best regards,
Carsten Otto
