Struts Example Still Not Working
I have done everything the instructions state for installing
struts-example.war and I can browse tour.htm, but get the following when
attempting to access index.jsp:
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Missing message for key index.title
The key-value pairs are in the Application.properties file in the
WEB-INF/classes/../example directory. I've copied the file to every
directory in the hierarchy and still get the JspException. Would somebody
please enlighten me?! This is VERY frustrating!
Enough to drive me to drink Fosters!
Thanks,
Mark

Mark:
I'm a newbe, so take this with a grain of salt. However, it seems to me that
either:
(1) Your web.xml action servlet application init parameter doesn't point to
the Application.properties file, or
(2) It does point to it but you moved it and did not restart your container
so it could find it, or
(3) It does point to it but the message key/message referenced by index.jsp
is missing.

Hi Mark,
'remove struts.jar from your claspath'
solution from here:-
http://www.mail-archive.com/struts-user@jakarta.apache.org/msg10093.html
If that's not the answer look for other errors in your server log, your error may be the
by-product of some other error (like security).
To everyone - can we have a page on the struts site dedicated to the common start-up
errors/problems?
Can we get struts to to intercept this error & list out suggested solutions?
I searched the mail archive for "message for key index.title" & got huge lists of people reporting
this problem & not having it answered. I've seen some really good answers/discussions in the list
but didn't find them after 5 minutes searching. I think this harms the reputation of this fine
product.
hope this helped - Keith.
