java.net.SocketTimeoutException - in Jmeter

Hi,

We have a simple jmeter scripts with HTTP request sampler.
The script was created in my local machine and i have tried a test with 30
users which is working fine.
However, when I run this test with even 5 user on the client machine ,
which is on client network I get java.net.SocketTimeoutException - in
Jmeter

The machine where I try to execute this test is a Linux Machine & I have
done a curl for application URL which is successfull, so application
accessibilty issues from the machine is ruled out.

Any pointers on where I should start looking to debug the causes.

These are the log details

Re: java.net.SocketTimeoutException - in Jmeter

Posted by Bincy P S <bi...@gmail.com>.
I had guessed that the issue was proxy so I had tried the run with proxy
mode in command line I.e, with -H and -P . However I still had issues.

Anyway, I was able to resolve this by running the jmeter as jmeter.jar
instead of jmeter.sh with -H and - P command

Re: java.net.SocketTimeoutException - in Jmeter

Posted by Bhabani Sankar Das <00...@gmail.com>.
Hi Bincy,

You must be using some proxy to connect to your client network. What
happens when you run even with one user? Maybe Jmeter is not able to
interact directly. So, you have to start your Jmeter by enabling the proxy
and the corresponding username and password.

http://jmeter.apache.org/usermanual/get-started.html#proxy_server

How to run the JMeter behind the proxy.
