Hindi translation: ready for testing?

I've seen very fast progress on the Hindi translation in the last
period, and now Hindi appears to be 100% complete at
https://translate.apache.org/hi/aoo40/

Does this mean that we are ready to test the translation? Nityanand
Sharma (nitya), would you like to have a test build available in Hindi
so that you can install it and check if the translation is correct?

Regards,
   Andrea.

Here they are. For reference:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122640 and
http://markmail.org/message/wmgezxw6trotrksy (which is based on an older
version of Pootle, so links don't work any longer).

However, note that automatic mnemonics assignment (in the other cases, I
mean) only works with languages using the Latin alphabet, so you will
have to keep existing mnemonics in general.

There is no reason for removing them all. Accelerators are useful in
general and, as I already wrote, for languages that are not using the
Latin alphabet they are not generated automatically, so it doesn't harm
to leave them as they are.

I am in process of removing them. Processed up to 2900. Hope to finish it soon.

Namaskar,

while checking for consistency, I found a lot of accelerators (~) unnecessary which I tried to remove. But later I found that (while reading some archived conversation in mailing list) there are few (12?) places where it is mandatory to have it. I can't find those places. Can you give me string for them.  It's really annoying to have so many overlapping accelerators.

Thanks

I hope other translators can answer your questions better than me. The
kid language pack can be used to identify id's of strings when I
understand it correct.

Namaskar,
I checked the translation for impress, writer, ... and it seems OK to me. There are a few synonyms and spacing problem at few places. Otherwise its fine. I hope to see it soon for downloading. yey !

there are a few question though-

1.How will I remove bad translation for a word? I mean How exactly I can find where is this work located for translation in PO file?
2. Now, that I have translated it completely. Can I get a list of translation used for the same word? like removing synonyms and making consistent.
3. I want to get this list before I move on to translate, the guide for AOO.

assuming you work on windows, you can find it under

Other platforms are avilable under

assuming you work on windows, you can find it under
http://people.apache.org/~hdu/developer-snapshots/snapshot/windows/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.0_Win_x86_install_hi.exe

Other platforms are avilable under
http://people.apache.org/~hdu/developer-snapshots/snapshot as well

Or simply see the now updated wiki page
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds

Namaskar,
I haven't seen the build for Hindi language yet for testing. Is this deliberate or consequenial?
Hope to see it soon.

Good. This happens in two steps:

1) Someone (this is usually Juergen) imports your work from Pootle into
the source code. This task will be tracked for Hindi in
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123968 and you should post
a comment there (you will need to register, same page) saying that
translations are ready to be imported. You will get an e-mail when the
import is complete.

2) Hindi ("hi") is added to the snapshot we build weekly, on
Sunday/Monday: http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/#winsnap

We don't have a formal procedure for that. You simply download and
install the snapshot build and verify that all menus are displaying
correctly.

If step 1 is done next week and the snapshot is successful, your build
should be ready on Monday 13th January.

I have still problems with Pootle and can't guarantee that I will be
able to snyc the files back into the sources in time.

You will get an e-mail when the
import is complete.

2) Hindi ("hi") is added to the snapshot we build weekly, on
Sunday/Monday: http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/#winsnap

We don't have a formal procedure for that. You simply download and

correctly.

should be ready on Monday 13th January.

Does this mean that we are ready to test the translation? Nityanand
Sharma (nitya), would you like to have a test build available in Hindi
so that you can install it and check if the translation is correct?

Hello Andrea,
I was going to ask you the same. I was correcting some mistakes in it. I think I will take one more day for it and then I will ask to get a test build.

@ to other Hindi translators: Please have a look on translations and give suggestions as soon as possible. I would like to have hindi version available by makar sankranti (14th Jan).

regards,

Nitya
