I haven't seen much response to this in general@xml.apache.org
Does anyone from the Axis/SOAP/Cocoon communities have any comments
on this?

i think it looks like a good attempt at a solution to a very pervasive
problem (namely, that it's difficult to write and/or install modular web
applications), but it doesn't stand a great chance of success in the real
world with only a small corporate backer.
