TCP, UDP or system call ?

Hi all
I am wondering if log4j permits to make a syslog system call.
If I use the SyslogAppender, logs are sent via UDP to the syslog deamon,
right ?
Is there a way in which I can send them via TCP ? I don't wnat loggs to
be lost if the syslog deamon reloads (which happens every day on my
system when I rotate log files).
Is there another way in which I can ensure that no log is lost ? The ideal way is to use the syslog system call, right ?
Any help would be great,
Thanks a lot
Ali
