Keyword substitution on Word Doc

Is it possible to perform keyword substitution on a MS Word doc?
When I tried it, I was unable to read the file. I get the error message:
"The document name or path is invalid."

I can see the file in explorer, I just can't open it. The permissions look
ok.
The mime-type is application/octet-stream.

Any ideas?

 -Matt.

What application were you trying to open it with?

If it's an application that parses the MS Word format (such as, say,
MS Word), then keyword substitution probably messed up the format, as
is to be expected.
