Re: how to send email using james

Hi Norman, thanks for the reply .. it works when inside the firewall from another machine to the mail server..  However when I try from outside the firewall, where a Cisco PIX show 25 wide open no restrictions, SMTP sends dont work .. error message is below...

What would be great is a free webmail client that runs on the server and SMTP sends from the server (since it works inside the firewall) - is there one ?  All the webmail clients I have found require IMAP and there is no compiled windows James yet that supports IMAP, and I dont compile raw tree trunk branch code (sorry dont know how to do this or where to start, nor do I want to, really).

I can receive through the Pix firewall just fine, but not send.. I also cannot telnet into 25 from outside the firewall (should I be able to ?) either.  This is killing me I have spent 7 hours on this problem..  Error here:

Subject 'test lap'
Server: '63.xx.xx.xxx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10051

Hi Gunter,

I don't understand your problem. JAMES has a SMTPServer included. So
just connect to it and use "simple smtp" to send the email.

Bye,
Norman
