[Issue 126560] New: ####

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126560

          Issue ID: 126560
        Issue Type: DEFECT
           Summary: ####
           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.1
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: viewing
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: ruth@city-of-dreams.co.uk

Created attachment 84962
  --> https://bz.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=84962&action=edit
a zipped copy of the file concerned

for some reason I was almost to end the end of a 4k document, saved in doc (xp)
version and the next time it opened, it defaulted to #### across the entire
document. I am not that computer literate, so if someone can teach me how to
recover the document, without having to redo it again (and run the risk of it
happening again, please help?

Your ZIP file is empty.

Your bug report is being closed as NOT_AN_ISSUE due to a lack of information
which is needed in order to accurately reproduce and confirm the problem. We
need the following information (please ignore any that you've already
provided):

a) Provide details of your operating system that you have confirmed the bug to
be present

b) Provide a step-by-step procedure to reproduce (the simpler will be the
better)

c) Provide any test case(s) which will help us confirm the problem (like a
sample document)

d) Provide screenshots of the problem if you think it might help

Once all of this is done, please set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and we will
attempt to reproduce the issue.

This document is a .DOC.
If I try to open with MS-Word viewer, it displays 915 empty pages.
Sounds like a corrupted document.

Check the temporary folder of your system (see in OOo Tools>Options>OOo>Paths).
If there are folders like *.tmp with a file having the same name inside, make a
copy of that file, rename it in .doc and cross your fingers.

Basically, if you use AOO, better avoid working in external formats like .doc.
Remember that the import/export filters have been reverse engineered. It has
not been designed to be interoperable, that's why it's very important to use
true open formats like ODF.
