And if I remove isolatedpvlan parameter I get "Error: (HTTP 431, error code
4350) Only shared guest network can be created in security group enabled
zone"

Re: Add private network to a VM

Posted by Andrija Panic <an...@gmail.com>.
You are (ab)using it "incorrectly" and perhaps haven't read enough
documentation.

PVLANs are only supported with Shared Network, and only secondary type of
Community and Promiscuous PVLANs. Not sure if SGs are allowed in that kind
of setup. Check the upstream documentation on GitHub, there is a PR for
PVLANs specify that explains things properly.

Re: Add private network to a VM

Posted by Fariborz Navidan <md...@gmail.com>.
I ran following command in CMK and got following error:

(localcloud) 🐱 > create network displaytext=PrivateNetwork1
name=PrivateNetwork1 networkofferingid=1eb91753-7e46-44dd-9dfa-5a8389052c07
zoneid=cb0c4519-5e38-463f-a76d-46d3b0c902f6 isolatedpvlan=200
🙈 Error: (HTTP 431, error code 4350) Can only support create Private VLAN
network with advance shared network!

What is wrong with my ACS setup?

Thanks. The issue exactly is that I see only 2 buttons in Networks section.
Add L2 Network and Add Guest Network

Re: Add private network to a VM

Not sure what you mean by that - logged in as an default admin account, you
see 3 buttons in 4.11+ Guest network, Isolated network and L2 network.
You can NOT add Isolated network to other user's VM (i.e. that becomes your
own network once you create it as an admin) - but you can operate and
create new resources for ANOTHER account via API if that is what you want.

Admin should also be able to add private isolated network to a VM. All my
VMs are created by admin. The issue is that default isolated network
offerings are not shown in the list.

i.e. there are 2 types (more...) of network offerings, some are for Shared
network, some are for Isolated network - you can work yourself that one
you mentioned, for which kind of network it is meant to be used.

"guest network" in the GUI is Shared Network, can be created only by an
ADMIN, and visible to whoever you decide (public or private for some
domain/account)

Isolated network is the other thing, admin creates offering, user create
the network as "Add Isolated Network"

that's it. VPC = many Isolated networks begind the VR

Re: Add private network to a VM

VPC networks provide a bunch of additional features, including network tiers (different subnets), private gateways for third party interconnection and IPSEC lan-to-lan tunnels. Typically you wouldn't use a VPC for a separate private network, it would the main network.

Hii,

So in advance zone you can create either isolated network or VPC style isolated network.!! Just go the network tab add an isolated network with your private subnet or you can select VPC in the drop down option.

Fariborz,

Create a new isolated network under networks and then add an additional network interface into the VM that's connected to that new isolated network.

How do I add a private network to a VM in an advanced zone?

Thanks
