           Summary: CR, LF in URL
           Product: Tomcat 5
           Version: 5.0.29
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P2
         Component: Catalina
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: a_kulshre@yahoo.com

Tomcat does not give error message when a URL in deployment desciptor
contains CR, LF. The Servlet 2.4 specs, SRV.13.2 states :
   " URI paths specified in the deployment descriptor are assumed to be in
URLdecoded form. The containers must inform the developer with a descriptive
error message when URL contains CR(#xD) or LF(#xA). The containers must
preserve all other characters including whitespace in URL."
     Tomcat allows the application to continue, Which I guess the spec does not
dictate (?). See the jsp-examples packaged with Tomcat. The web.xml contains the
following :
<servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>
            CompressionFilterTestServlet
        </servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>
            /CompressionTest
        </url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
