Silly question

I fear that this is a silly question

I just built maven from src (thanks to CVSGrab)....
I just ran ant -f build-bootstrap.xml - where MAVEN_HOME was pointing to an
       empty dir.

Everything went fine....

The newly built Maven even seems to work (even seems to build my project)

However, when I look at what was built, the driver.properties and a bunch
       of other conf was missing from the bin dir.

Now, my project still built probably because my project.properties
overrides a lot of the driver.properties,.

Has the config moved somewhere else? Are we meant to copy the cfg manually?
Is ther another task I should run? Should MAVEN_HOME have been empty? Is
there something I am missing?

I suspect the answer is kinda simple.
