... because the gui is built during onInitialize callback, and this is called when re-rendered

Funnily enough, ScalarPanelAbstract (which ScalarPanelAbstract2 replaces) uses onBeforeRender.

Am guessing there was probably a reason to move the gui building to onInitialize...
