SQL and property expansion

<SQL> disnae expand properties, right? Now that single $ signs go through
untouched, could we/should we turn property expansion on for this task?

The two risks are a) that some SQL string ${foo} maps to a valid property,
and b) that somebody is using $$ in their SQL statement.

Thoughts?
