My guess is the the directory should not exist if there aren't property
files for it. We used to get the locale files at the end of the release
since they were done by another team. Perhaps the build engineer used the
empty.properties to test the builds.
Maybe includeEmptyDirs="false" should be includeEmptyDirs="true" but I
only put about 2 seconds of thought in that.

Hi,

Found the issue the stage-locales target is removing all empty.properties files - anyone know why?
<!-- frameworks/projects -->
<!--
Remove these files from the binary kit.
copylocale looks for bundles and then uses default locale so if there is
not a locale sub-directory don't include the bundles directory.
-->
<delete dir="${basedir}/temp/frameworks/projects" includeEmptyDirs="false">
<include name="airspark/bundles/**"/>
<include name="automation_air/bundles/**"/>
<include name="automation_dmv/bundles/**"/>
<include name="automation_flashflexkit/bundles/**"/>
<include name="automation_spark/bundles/**"/>
<include name="*/bundles/**/empty.properties"/>
<include name="*/bundles/**/docs/**"/>
<include name="*/bundles/*/*.xml"/>
<include name="*/bundles/*/packages.dita"/>
<exclude name="*/bundles/${locale}"/>
</delete>

Justin

Perhaps I didn't quite have a clean tree, or that clean/super-clean isn't cleaning up everything? I'll look into it.
The binaries are for convenience only really but I agree you should be able to build them.
Thanks,
Justin

Well if you built in the tree you had an empty.properties in each locale
directory which you don't have on the kit.
I always unzipped both the source and binary kits and built them before I
announced them.

The source kit built fine. I didn't get any farther than that.

Hi,

Odd because a ant -f build-framework.xm works fine. I'll take a look at it.
Did you have a look at the source packages? Any other issues other than this one?
Justin.

Just change the end of the release URL from 5 to 6

Just waiting a late plane. Just in case there was an issue I made a full
RC6 feel free to use that.

Did you update the sdk-installer-config.xml in the src folder to point to
RC5?
Did you confirm by downloading the binaries manually and verifying that the
signature doesn't match?

Hi Folks,
I've seen the last few VOTE threads, immediately become discussions.
I have two thoughts.
(1) Start the process with a [DISCUSS] thread with a title like "[DISCUSS] Packaging for Apache Flex 4.9 RC6 - is it ready for a VOTE"
Once consensus is reached then a VOTE can proceed rather quickly.
or
(2) Be thorough about changing [VOTE] to [VOTE][DISCUSS]
Regards,
Dave

Hi,
I just checked the signature files for the binaries in RC6 directory and they are correct.
Thanks,
Justin

You might already be gone, but I don't think you updated the signature
files? They are not matching so the installer is failing.
If I don't hear from you by tonight my time, I'll try to cut an RC6.

Hi,

I've fixed, tested and checked in changes that fix this issue (rename blank.properties to experimental.properties).
I don't think this is a major enough issue to stop the current vote so I've just replaced the binary packages in RC5.
Thanks,
Justin

That's probably a few weeks to a month away at a guess. I see no need to have one rely on the other.

Which may mean that some people have more time for testing not less :-)
Thanks,
Justin

Already there (lines 15 + 16):
The Apache Flex project has just graduated to be a top level Apache project and the
project's URL will be soon be changing to http://flex.apache.org/.

Why bother releasing as 'incubating' after we have graduated. Can we wait
until our top level domain is up and running before we release? I am sure
we are not going to get enough testing done with most of us gone for the
holidays.

And if you decide to rekit I think you should mention in the README that
although we have graduated we are still using incubator urls - which will
redirect after we've been moved.

In the binary kit, frameworks/build.xml does not build cleanly.
