[jira] [Created] (QPID-7421) [Java Broker] Deletion of expired messages on message delivery can be potentially done asynchronously to improve performance

Alex Rudyy created QPID-7421:
--------------------------------

Summary: [Java Broker] Deletion of expired messages on message delivery can be potentially done asynchronously to improve performance
                 Key: QPID-7421
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-7421
             Project: Qpid
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Java Broker
            Reporter: Alex Rudyy

The expired messages are deleted on message delivery and in house keeping thread. If queue contains a lot of expired messages and messages expired between the housekeeping task invocations , the deletion of messages could happen on message delivery. If there would be a lot of messages to delete the delivery time would increase, as deletion of every message happens synchronously. It looks like we can improve the performance for this corner case by deleting messages asynchronously.
