Ummm, rather than introducing a patch for a patch, how about just 
creating a 97a?  The dependencies between patches in the current
round are already too confusing.

Mainly because it's not a patch, but a tarfile with lots of stuff in it. 
It's less confusing to patch it then to redo it (and probably screw
something else up in the meanwhile).
