Storing empty arrays are returned as null

Hi, I've noticed that Atlas doesn't preserve empty array values and returns
null instead. I've created a ticket with the details here:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ATLAS-2933. There hasn't been any
comment or updates on the ticket since it was opened. Is returning null
expected behavior?
