Re: [I] Support secondary index to be created on multiple fields [hudi]

rangareddy commented on issue #16514:
URL: https://github.com/apache/hudi/issues/16514#issuecomment-5434678077

   This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage (HUDI-7836).

   **Findings: not done - and this looks like a duplicate.**

   The blocking guard is a single line, `hudi-client/hudi-client-common/src/main/java/org/apache/hudi/index/HoodieIndexUtils.java:661`:

   ```java
   checkArgument(columns.size() == 1, "Only one column can be indexed for functional or secondary index.");
   ```

   with `:687` then taking `sourceFields.get(0)` on the strength of it, so relaxing the guard alone is not sufficient.

   **#16652 (HUDI-8302, "Handle multiple column secondary indexes") asks for the same thing** and is blocked by the same guard. Recommend merging the two rather than working them separately.
