[jira] Created: (COMPRESS-56) Add InputStream byte counting to debug invalid input formats

Add InputStream byte counting to debug invalid input formats
------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: COMPRESS-56
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COMPRESS-56
             Project: Commons Compress
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: Sebb

If an input file has an invalid format - or the code thinks it has - at present it's really difficult to find out what the problem is.

If the file input methods counted bytes, then this information could be included in Exceptions or log output etc.
