   As Google Fonts are often holding up first content display, it makes sense to preconnect to the CDN either by link header or by link tag to fonts.gstatic.com.
   Fonts are often loaded pretty late in the process, the added DNS/connect/handshake is not helping.

   I can imagine having the extra connection when fonts are already cached won't make Google happy.
   
   Thoughts?
