I installed erlang and ran the erlang samples. The only problem I found
was that the README instructions for these samples mention using ant but
there aren't any build.xml files. I added code to the poms to generate
the build.xml files and everything worked OK. If erlang isn't installed,
the samples produce a message saying this.

Based on this I see no reason for excluding modules/binding-erlang-* and
samples/helloworld-erlang-* from the 1.x and 1.6.1 binary distros, and
I would like to add them. Does anyone disagree with this?
