Copyright rules

Hi,

What are the proper rules for updating copyrights in Trafodion source code
now that we are in Apache?

Thanks,

Dave

I suggest a JIRA issue is created for this. And if already present, update
where & when necessary.

I see.

Can you please add me as a contributor in JIRA? I have been working on
Trafodion and its processor versions in HP for a while and would like to
continue work on Trafodion.

thanks.

I have tried several times to assign myself a JIRA. Alice indicated that
this was not possible because of an infrastructure problem. "We are blocked
due to https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-9701". It looks like
Dave was able to assign himself a JIRA but all other JIRA's are
unassigned. Perhaps it is just an educational issue?

Can you not assign issues to yourself Qifan? If not, we need to add you as
a contributor in JIRA. Then you can.

When I created the JIRA, there was a link, "Assign to me" and I clicked on
that.

Done. See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TRAFODION-28. I have

It is pretty explicit on what files should have in them regards copyright:

"If the source file is submitted with a copyright notice included in it,
the copyright owner (or owner's agent) must either:

   1. remove such notices, or
      2. move them to the NOTICE file associated with each applicable
      project release, or
      3. provide written permission for the ASF to make such removal or
      relocation of the notices."

Later in the doc it talks about the NOTICES file format.

As Pierre suggest, a JIRA and patch to make the change would be way to go.

Perfect! This is exactly the information I needed.

So, presently all Trafodion files contain a Hewlett-Packard copyright. From
the link you sent, it sounds like those should now be removed?
