Thanks for providing the patch. I applied it in Rev. 782947.
Yes, I agree, that for pure resource types we should favor the slashy style. But for the script resolution it does not matter, since before using the resource type as a path, the colon is replaced by a slash anyway. This is done to support using primary node types as resource types as-is.

I m not 100% certain about this, as there might be a : to / translation somewhere I am missing (and after all the UserManager does work) however the resourceType is a resourceType at this stage and not a node type so : looks out of place.
