What are the different Key features of Lucene.Net and Lucene Java

Hi,

We are analyzing to use the Lucene Search in one of our projects. However can someone explain the major differences between the Java Lucene and Lucene.Net?
Also please share the feature list for Lucene.Net. Thanks!

Regards,
Praveen KM

Praveen,

Lucene.Net aims to be a (mostly) line-by-line, feature-for-feature port of Java Lucene to .NET. So the feature list is the same between the same version numbers of the two projects.

The main difference now is that Lucene.net is still at Java Lucene 3.0.3 compatibility, meanwhile Java Lucene is at 4.5. We are actively trying to get Lucene.net caught up to date, and you can see our progress in the branch_4x branch of the git repository. We’re currently trying to get to 4.3 compatibility, then it should be easier to get to 4.5 compatibility. But if you compare Lucene.net 3.0 to Java Lucene 3.0, you will see that they are nearly identical and you can often use the Java lucene docs as a reference for Lucene.net.
