a multilingual GUI?

we had some discussions about using the I18N transformer for lenya
recently. i think it would be a very valuable project for someone
looking to get a grip on lenya to put all CMS strings into catalogs.

http://cocoon.apache.org/2.1/userdocs/transformers/i18n-transformer.html

anyone feel like tackling this?

i volunteer for the german translation once the strings are extracted.

I have already started to i18n Lenya. Since I'm busy at the mom,
checkins may be deferred some days.

Re: a multilingual GUI?

Well i abandonned Lenya and made my own CMS :=) Yeah
sorry...

Actually it's kind of a mix between Lenya and
Forrest...

The basic idea is to abstract data with XML and
presentation to generate all sites + back-office +
reuse XSL development on presentation sides (because
I'm lazy).

Here is how it works:

I use one XML empty document (they are simple, a DTD
would have done the same): I have the structure.

Then I have a site.xml which is the website map: it is
the arborescence with some parameters to call
pipelines.

So when an HTTP request is fired to Jetty, Cocoon
looks in a website list to check if the domain name is
valid and what is the site.xml it should use (I have
30 websites actually). Then Cocoon goes into the
site.xml and check the URL, then it calls all the
pipeline (navigation, header and so on) using the
parameters in site.xml.

I also checks for authentication and filter eventually
content.

The back-office is automatically generated using some
metadata.

I've also managed to do some generic "types" like
lists. That's why my system is cool.

Actually I've done the main website in 3 days with
this system (well I made the system too). What do you
think? could it helps you?

Here is a snippet below of the site.xml:
<presentation label="Présentation" nav="yes"
href_inherit="presentation/" >

		  	<presentation2 label="Présentation"
type="contenu"  nav="yes" href="index.html">
		  		<param:param name="xpath"
value="cnei/CNEI/Presentation/index/#//contenu"/>
		 		<param:param name="paginated" value="yes" />
		  	</presentation2>

		  	<origine label="Origine, rôle, mission"
type="contenu" nav="yes" href="origine.html" >
		  		<param:param name="xpath"
value="cnei/CNEI/Presentation/origine/#//contenu"/>
		  		<param:param name="paginated" value="yes"/>
		  	</origine>

			<statuts label="Statuts" href="statuts.html"
type="contenu" nav="yes">
				<param:param name="xpath"
value="cnei/CNEI/Presentation/statuts/#//contenu"/>
		  		<param:param name="paginated" value="yes"/>
			</statuts>

			<statuts label="Organisation"
href="organisation.html" type="contenu" nav="yes">
				<param:param name="xpath"
value="cnei/CNEI/Presentation/organisation/#//contenu"/>
		  		<param:param name="paginated" value="yes"/>
			</statuts>

	</presentation>

it'll need work to integrate it (but I find it cool)

Hi,

I'm volunteering for the French one :=)

Starting march I'll be jobless and so I've decided to
help improve Lenya (while looking for a job of
course).

I know Cocoon and CMS since I'm currently building one
with Cocoon for my job (nearly over so I'm leaving
:=)).
