cheap copy?

Hi all out there!

And first many thanks and congratulations for the 1.0.1 Windows
binaries!

Win2000 Pro SP2
SVN 0.37, confirmed with 10.0.1
Apache 2.0.48

When attempting my first branching I run into some trouble and
therefore continued first on a local test repos accessed through
http. The repos was newly created with trunk/, branches/, tags/ as
recommended and about two dozen of files imported: *.HTM, *.JS,
*.CSS and one Word doc. Two working copies checked out.

Now I created a branch and switched WC2 to the branch.
Comparing it with the files in WC1 everything was equal as
expected. But when I tried a commit all *.HTM files would be
committed though I have not modified anything as WinMerge also
confirmed!

It was suspicious that the other files were not scheduled for
commit and finally I found out that I had an autoprop setting for
*.HTM files with svn:eol-style=native. Removing this property from
the working copy in trunk and merging this changeset into the
branch stopped this behaviour which obviously makes switching no
longer "cheap". Under 0.37 I also noticed that on a switch TSVN
listed all HTM files as "Upgrading" though there were no
modifications made on the files yet. With 1.0.1 this is no longer so.

I am not sure if my understanding of the EOL property is sufficient
enough to call this a bug, but I would think that it should be
completely transparent and not affecting the working copy at all. At
least it should not lead to committing all files with this property to
be committed just because of switching between branches a/o
trunk.

Or there should be a loud warning in the help on the EOL property.
For if I had succeeded with branching from the start I would have
ended with a property-related commit of 5000+ files. Not exactly
what I wanted ... checking out a second working copy instead of
branching would have been better then!

Thanks a lot for your work!

Jan Hendrik
