Resolution: Fixed
The original request was for @expandAll for tree. I decided to implement this feature by making it part of the new TreeModelBase implementation. See new simple example for details.

I took the first step towards a solution. I added a TreeModel interface so users can supply their own tree model. Over time this interface will likely contain methods used to check the expand state, etc.

Please see latest source code to see if this suits everyone's needs. It is slightly different in that you need to call expandAll method after tree data has been populated. I modified the simple examples to show how this could be done with a action method. Other possibilities include using Shale's prerender method in ViewController.
