[jira] [Reopened] (DERBY-4368) Add support for SOUNDEX() function

Knut Anders Hatlen reopened DERBY-4368:
---------------------------------------

JDBC defines SOUNDEX as an escape function, so I think this is a reasonable feature request. Reopening in case someone wants to pick it up.

> Add support for SOUNDEX() function
> ----------------------------------
>
> Key: DERBY-4368
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-4368
> Project: Derby
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: SQL
> Reporter: Guy Davis

> Support for the SOUNDEX() function supplied by Oracle and MySQL among others would be great. Our application uses Oracle for large installs and Derby for more portable ones. Derby has performed great in this capacity with only SOUNDEX being a sticking point. Would love to see it added as a supported function.
