> Automatically cast into StringType for StringRegexExpression
> ------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: SPARK-7363
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-7363
> Project: Spark
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: SQL
> Affects Versions: 1.3.1
> Reporter: Jun Fang
>
> Spark-SQL can not cast DataType into StringType in StringRegexExpression automatically, so if we run a SQL like: "select A from B where id regexp '^12345$'" in which column id is a BIGINT type, we got a error like: "
> java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.Long cannot be cast to java.lang.String". We should make StringRegexExpression inherit ExpectsInputTypes and specified input type with StringType here.
