[DISCUSS] Granting Wiki access to Non-Committers
All,
The following web page documents the requirements for maintaining a
Podling website -- http://incubator.apache.org/guides/sites.html.
In particular, see "Using A Wiki To Create Documentation". As this
section documents, there aren't any requirements that access to the
wiki be limited to podling committers. Access is restricted only to
people who have filed an ICLA.
I think it's valuable to encourage documentation contributions from
non-committers (note the recent request for access from Jay McHugh).
We use this policy in the Geronimo community. I'm sure that others do,
also.
Thoughts?

+1, allow access for those with ICLA.

Good point. However, that level of oversight is required, no matter
who has access to the Wiki. So, don't really see this as an additional
overhead...
Guillaume, did you setup email alerts for Wiki updates?

I'm +1 as long as the wiki mods are sent to one of our mailing lists -
since the guide says:
"The PPMC MUST review all changes and ensure that trust is not abused."

I agree to opening up access for those with ICLAs on file that request
access. More contributors will hopefully mean more/better doc and that
is always something that is lacking.

+1, as long as there is an ICLA on file, it should be OK to grant
access to wiki to non-committers.

+1 I also would like to encourage podlings to take in consideration
"documentation contributions" towards inviting a community member to
become a project committer.

+1
Personally, I see significant upside (more contributions, better docs, etc...)
and no downside to this.
