[SNAP] Pinned IDE snap won't start from KDE Plasma's Latte Dock
I found that the pinned snap won't start from Latte Dock due to a missing
line in the desktop file.
StartupWMClass=Apache NetBeans 11.1
I would like to once and for all do my first contribution with this fix in
order to learn the process.
So, I'll
-post on the dev list (done)
-create a JIRA ticket that points to the thread on the list
-inform on the list about the ticket
-create PR by following
https://netbeans.apache.org/participate/submit-pr.html
-asking for a review
Is that all?

Thanks, but for future reference I prefer to going through all the hoops. :)

If it’s a question of tweaking a line in a file on GitHub, then you can
simply do that tweak directly on GitHub itself and provide a PR from there.

At last I was able to install from the edge channel and now I can confirm
it works for me too.

Well beta2 is not on the edge yet, Apache has some infra issues, wit its
build nodes.
11.2-beta1 is there as 11.2.
Check the site: https://snapcraft.io/netbeans upper right corner there
is a dropdown with the available versions. You can get further
instructions there.

Hi, probably the easiest way I found is to patch the source in Jenkins,
adding the required line. Unfortunately that wont work on the dev
releases, but those builds are hardly used. The beta1 will be available
on the edge channel today. You are going to be able to test the fix there.

Re: [SNAP] Pinned IDE snap won't start from KDE Plasma's Latte Dock
Posted by Patrik Karlström <pa...@trixon.se>.
First off, I have had some problems building snaps in general so that part
is still on my todo list.
Bringing back the thread from the pr
https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/1406 to this mailing list.
Where Neil wrote there:
---BEGIN
I'd remove the version number from the end.
@lkishalmi <https://github.com/lkishalmi> but it won't work in that case!
Looks like we might need to reconsider how the following code works, or
find a way to template along with other uses of the version numbers in the
build?
https://github.com/apache/netbeans/blob/master/platform/core.windows/src/org/netbeans/core/windows/view/ui/MainWindow.java#L123
https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=183739
--END
Is this something that has been reconsidered by now for 11.2 or will that
be done after 11.2?
I will put my PR on hold since it might be more to solve than I understand.
/Patrik
