snapshots in java-repository
Howard,
alpha snapshots don't belong in 'dist/java-repository/' ;
There was a policy page
http://wiki.apache.org/ASFRepository/BrettPorter
but I can't find it any anymore.
Also, stuff published in 'dist/' should not be changed later ;
new stuff should get a new version number.
repository@apache.org,
please advise Howard (hlship) where this stuff is to be published.
Please also remove the obsolete .md5 files mentioned below under
'no source'. I removed a lot of those earlier, but for these
files, I lack permission.

While its just my collection of the various thoughts that had
circulated on the list, it is up to date.
The SNAPSHOTs section is the shadow repository you refer to I think
(http://cvs.apache.org/repository).
As far as I know, MD5s are still what we are putting into the repo as
a means of verifying a download, not as a security measure. The latest
versions of Maven also generate a sha1 and can deal with both, so if
you can generate that too, that'd be great.
What makes it look out of date?

I'll look into this.
The Wiki documentation looks very out of date. Do we maintain a
shadow repository for alpha code? It still talks about MD5s, what's
the policy? Please update the document.

(last moin upgrade forced spaces to lowercase).
It's probably time for some of this documentation to be included into
the foundation site, some people have been doing some good work on
release doco in Jakarta Commons, and the /dev/ site itself.
